President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged university students to embrace patriotism and actively participate in the fight against corruption by setting a good example in their communities.
In a message delivered by Vice President (Rtd) Maj. Jessica Alupo during the 21st graduation ceremony of Bishop Stuart University held on Friday in Kakoba, Mbarara City, President Museveni emphasized the role of higher institutions of learning in nurturing leaders who combine technical knowledge with strong moral values such as honesty, selflessness, and integrity.
A total of 1,660 students were awarded degrees, diplomas, and certificates in various disciplines, including 2 PhDs, 134 Master’s degrees, 205 Postgraduate Diplomas, 753 Bachelor’s degrees, 433 Diplomas, and 133 Certificates.
The President commended Bishop Stuart University for aligning its academic programs with the government’s human capital development strategy, particularly in science-related fields such as nursing and environmental studies. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and called on stakeholders to support its continued growth for national development.
In his remarks, the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. John F. Mugisha, advised graduands to uphold integrity, innovation, and commitment as they enter the job market. He also urged them to use social media responsibly to showcase their talents and positively impact society.
