Police have said they are investigating former Deputy Resident City Commissioner for Rubaga Division, Anderson Burora for using his social media accounts to promote hate speech.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango said on Tuesday afternoon that detectives are obtaining statements from Burora, on all speeches found on his social media platforms.

“He was arrested on a sanctioned file on charges of hate speech and malicious information under the Computer Misuse Act 2022. He did this using different social media platforms , especially his X handle,” Onyango said.

Burora gained popularity after he started criticizing the same government he served as RCC.

Condemning corruption, Burora turned the guns to parliament and Speaker Among whom he blamed for being extravagant and not caring about the citizens.

He consequently opted to resign from his position as deputy RCC after he had allegedly been asked to apologise to the speaker.

Since leaving government, Burora had become an anti-corruption activist.

Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed Burora was arrested from his home in Kira and is currently detained at the Central Police Station in Kampala, awaiting to appear in court.

He said his acts of promoting hate speech and malicious information are illegitimate.

Onyango warned members of the public against using social media
