Butambala Muslim Leaders Meet Uganda’s Mufti Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje to Strengthen Unity and Development

A delegation of Muslims from the Greater Muslim District, comprising the local government districts of Mpigi, Butambala, and Gomba, has paid a courtesy visit to the Mufti of Uganda, Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, at his office at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council headquarters in Old Kampala.

The delegation, operating under the Butambala Masjid Imams Association, visited the Mufti on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. It was led by District Kadhi Sheikh Muhammad Kabuye, who said the purpose of the visit was to introduce the association, which was established to promote development within the Muslim community, and to seek support for its planned projects.

In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Mubaje urged the delegation to prioritise unity and brotherhood as key pillars for achieving their aspirations. He also reiterated his earlier guidance to Imams in the district to register under the SACCO to benefit from the Presidential pledge of funds aimed at boosting household incomes and alleviating poverty among mosque Imams, who dedicate much of their time to providing spiritual guidance to their followers.

Earlier, Hajj Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, Secretary General of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, briefed the delegation on the current state of Muslim affairs in the country. He encouraged them to remain focused and continue supporting the council, pledging institutional support whenever opportunities arise.
