CAF Confederation: Kitara Off To Libya

0

Uganda Cup winners Kitara have left Uganda for Libya, to take part in their first ever continental competition – CAF Confederation Cup.

The Royals left Entebbe International Airport on Monday morning, via Egypt Air, in a group of 30 people, including 20 players and 10 officials.

They will have a stop over in Cairo, Egypt before proceeding to Benghazi, Libya – where they will host Muhammad Shaban’s Al Hilal in the first leg of the first round of the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup on Friday, August 16.

As unreal as it sounds, Kitara will really play their home game very far away from home! They have literally surrendered the home advantage for both (home and away) ties to the Libyan club.

For reasons beyond Kitara’s control, they tried, but failed to secure any of the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, or St.Mary’s Stadium, Kitende – the only two CAF-approved stadia in the country.

With fewer options to chose from, the Ugandan club ultimately decided to host Al Hilal at their own stadium in Libya.

Kitara’s travelling contingent to Libya has 20 players, of which two are goalkeepers; Chrispas Kusiima and Yawe Farouk.

The list also has Kitara newcomers including Fred Amaku, Titus Ssematimba, Marvin Nyanzi, David Ndihabwe, and Ronald Otti.

The others players are Denis Omedi, Brian Aheebwa, Jude Ssemugabi, Frank Tumwesigye, George Senkaaba, Erick Muber, Paddy Muhumuza, Maxwell Owachgiu, Jasper Aheebwa, Arthur Kiggundu, Kabon Living, Solomon Okwalinga and Benjamin Nyakoojo.

Issa Magola is leading the group as Head Of Delegation, while they have also travelled with Club President Deo Kasozi, and CEO Joshua Atugonza.

The Royals have traveled with a team of five coaches, headed by Brian Ssenyondo, alongside his assistants David Bbale, Hamsa Muwonge, Issa Serwanja and Sharon Aceng.

Meanwhile, Sandra Awori moved with the team as the Media officer, and Enock Kayondo as the Team Doctor.
