Canada immigration invites 462 new candidates from the Express Entry system with PNP nomination

462 applicants in the express entry pool were offered a slot for Canada permanent residence in its new PNP draw.

With a drop in the CRS score, Canada invites 462 applicants from the express entry pool with a provincial nomination for a chance to apply for Canadian permanent residence on July 21.

As specified above, all those who are selected for a Canada PR must have received a provincial certificate/nomination previously by one of the 10 provinces and 3 territories of Canada. As a provincial nomination gets you an accumulation of 600 points in the CRS score calculator, which is why we see a comparatively high CRS cutoff at 734. We can fathom, the lowest-scoring applicant would have a point score of 134.

A tiebreaker rule was also proclaimed by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which doesn’t actually prove that there was a tie but in case if there existed one then they could follow the rule as published on the government portal.

The condition for tiebreak entails that the lowest-scoring candidate should have submitted their EE profile on or before 11 April 2021 at 10:56:32 UTC.

In contrast with the previously held Express Entry aligned PNP draw, Canada only invited a few candidates for a Canada PR at a lower cutoff range. The previous draw invited 627 applicants with a CRS score of 760 points.

Defining PNP & CEC draws

The IRCC has been holding regular draws throughout the pandemic. These majorly included candidates from the Canadian Experience Class and PNPs. This was primarily because Canadian borders were closed down to outsiders and these candidates were mostly likely in Canada at that time.

The Canada government has started to roll back its covid measures, by opening its borders for non- essential travel for travellers coming from the U.S. who are fully vaccinated in August. By September end, the federal government will provide some relaxation to travellers from rest of the world. However, Indian flights are put on hold till further notice until August 21, 2021.

In a latest immigration plan, Canada has proposed to raise its intake cap to onboard 401,000 new immigrants in 2021. A quarter of which will come through the Express Entry system.

A total of 94,304 candidates from the express entry pool have found their new home in Canada. As compared to last years statistic, express entry has invited twice the number of candidates in 2021. The largest number of invites came in the month of February draw where 27,332 new immigrants (specifically CEC eligible applicants) from the candidate pool were granted the invitation by IRCC. 87% of those invited had applied for a PR before the deadline.

Draws pertaining to PNP and CEC have different requirement for scores. Bringing into consideration that a PNP candidate gets 600 points credited into its CRS score and CEC does not compete for an invitation. The repercussion is that IRCC gives more scope to the topmost candidates allowing the CRS cutoff to dip lower.

Explaining the logic behind the Express Entry program?

The Express Entry program of Canada is an online immigration application system that allows the intake of candidates through the three main Canadian pathways for migration, namely – Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. Its also works in collaboration the provincial nominee programs of Canada to invite candidates in the EE pool for a provincial nomination.
An eligible candidate in the Express Entry program is ranked on the basis of a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The points awarded are based on the candidates core human factors such as age, work experience, education, language proficiency skills, and other adaptability factors.
