The ninth season of the renowned Chaapa League, proudly sponsored by Guinness, will come to an exhilarating conclusion on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The finale will unfold at the NEC playground (Coffee Grounds) in Bugolobi, with a day packed full of excitement.
The Chaapa League, an annual football tournament for alumni of Mbarara High School, features over 30 teams competing for glory and camaraderie.
At a press conference held at the Oak Hall, Kabira Country Club in Bukoto, Jacob Kabigumira, Chairman of the Chaapa League, shared key details about the highly anticipated finale.
Kabigumira revealed that Rwizi, representing the Class of 2015, will be officially crowned as the champions of Season 9, succeeding last season’s winners, Chwezi.
Rwizi’s remarkable season has showcased their exceptional teamwork and perseverance.
The finale will also showcase the Bulls Tournament, featuring eight teams—Chogm FC, Dingswayo, Yobo Yobo, Msamiati, Kaatara, Mutakoha, 99 Dynamos, and Karasande—competing in the second edition of this thrilling contest.
Each team will include a female player, highlighting the league’s commitment to enhancing women’s involvement in sports.
Kabigumira extended an invitation to all supporters: “We welcome our League partners, alumni, fans, family, and friends to join us on September 21 at the NEC Grounds in Bugolobi for a spectacular conclusion to Season 9.”
“We will also recognize outstanding performers and those who have made significant contributions to the league.”
The grand finale will feature a full schedule of activities, including awards for Top Scorer, MVP, and Best Goalkeeper, with customized medals and accolades.
Rwizi will be awarded the coveted championship shield and gold medals, while the Bulls Tournament winners will receive a trophy and medals.
The Chaapa League has forged strong partnerships with leading organizations such as Guinness (UBL), Uganda Batteries, SilverBacks Events & Lounge, Cavendish University, TBia Kitchen Mart, Innovation Consortium, and Khunda Cleaning Services.
Patience Aguti, Project Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, spoke about Guinness’ ongoing support. “We are thrilled to see the Chaapa League’s expansion and the emphasis on inclusivity, particularly with the inclusion of women in the tournament.”

Beyond the football pitch, the Chaapa League has expanded its reach with over 500 pieces of exclusive merchandise sold since its launch in 2023. The league’s dedication to inclusivity is also evident in the participation of the Holistics, a ladies’ team from Maryhill High School.
