In a developing broadcasting saga, there is a silent battle rising among FUFA Media Services, Next Media, and sponsor StarTimes over the broadcasting of the Uganda Premier League.
The conflict has intensified after StarTimes reclaimed ownership of Sanyuka Prime, one of the channels previously airing league matches.
Next Media had been operating Sanyuka Prime under a contract with StarTimes, which has now expired.
Additionally, StarTimes opted not to renew Next Media’s production contract for the league broadcasts.
Amid these shifts, FUFA Media Services—owned by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA)—is now producing games for both their own FUFA TV and Sanyuka Prime.
Sources close to Next Media allege that FUFA President Moses Magogo may have influenced StarTimes against renewing their contracts.
However, Magogo has publicly refuted these claims on some occasions, insisting that StarTimes hold the broadcasting rights.
