The stage is set for excitement and competition as the 22nd edition of the Uganda Corporate League gears up for its kickoff this Sunday, March 24th, at the esteemed Makerere University Kampala Sports Grounds.
In a grand gesture, the top performers in both the men’s and women’s categories will have the chance to drive away with brand new cars.
With over 55 companies finalizing their registrations, this edition promises to be the most extravagant yet.
Dennis Mbidde Ssebuggwawo, the Corporate League Board Chairperson, emphasized the league’s dedication to fostering physical wellness, team cohesion, and corporate accountability.
“We’ve crafted an experience that addresses various aspects of team building while encouraging companies to showcase their brands in a manner that benefits both them and the Corporate League,” remarked Mbidde.
He further highlighted the league’s commitment to providing valuable experiences for employees and announced plans to provide progress reports to participating companies’ HR departments.
Adding a new dimension to the league, the 2024 edition will introduce a Kids section, slated to launch in May under the theme “As I Pay, You Play,” inviting parents in the Corporate League to involve their children in the festivities.
The enduring partnership between the league and Nile Breweries drew commendation from both Board Chairperson Mbidde and Mr. Adu Rando, Managing Director of Nile Breweries, who lauded the league’s impact on workforce fitness and health.
Rando also revealed a thrilling addition to the prize pool: the Most Valuable Players in both categories will each receive a car as recognition for their outstanding efforts.
“The addition of cars to the awards underscores Nile Breweries’ commitment to elevating the Corporate League brand as a premier corporate sports platform in the country,” stated Mr. Rando.
Emphasizing the league’s broader objectives, Mr. Fabian Kasi, Patron of the Corporate League and Managing Director of Centenary Bank, highlighted its role in fostering meaningful engagement, camaraderie, and personal growth among corporate individuals.
He urged HR Managers to ensure active participation from their employees, stressing the importance of sportsmanship and corporate etiquette.
Assuring fair competition, Mr. David Awilo Bashisha, Head of Competitions at the Corporate League, promised timely communication of venues and fixtures, building on the new point awarding system introduced in 2023.
As anticipation builds for the league’s launch, Mr. Julius Kakeeto, the MD of Post Bank Uganda, expressed excitement, describing the event as a unifying force bringing together companies from various sectors in the spirit of healthy competition and excellence.
