Director CID Pays a Courtesy Call on the Director of Public Prosecutions

Kampala- On Tuesday, 23rd day of December 2025, a courtesy meeting was held between the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mr. Lino Anguzu, and the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), AIGP Tom Magambo, to reaffirm their commitment to close inter-agency collaboration in the administration of criminal justice. The meeting was held at the head office of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

Mr. Lino Anguzu appreciated AIGP Tom Magambo for the excellent relationship with the ODPP and commended his work since his appointment. He stressed the need for continued cooperation to achieve results and ensure public trust. He specifically emphasized the need to prioritize serious cases for effective and efficient management of criminal matters, and to tackle the case backlog dilemma in the criminal justice system.

AIGP Tom Magambo underscored his strategy for success, including mindset change, placing the right people in the right jobs, provision of adequate work tools, promotions, and stakeholder management. He observed how Prosecution-Guided Investigations had proved to be very effective in managing sensitive criminal matters.

He further observed how the regular ODPP/CID Coordination meetings had also gone a long way in enhancing criminal justice. He pledged his support to the DPP.

The meeting centered on strengthening coordination between investigators and prosecutors, enhancing quality and timeliness in criminal matters, and addressing operational and legal challenges. Both offices emphasized continuous engagement, information sharing, and upholding the rule of law to ensure fair investigations, prosecutions, and public confidence.

At the close of the meeting, Mr. Anguzu presented an accolade to AIGP Tom Magambo in recognition and appreciation of his exceptional leadership, professionalism, unwavering commitment to criminal justice, and distinguished service in strengthening criminal investigations in Uganda.
