The Electoral Commission has set to nominate tomorrow, Monday 11 March, 2024 at 11am, as the date for the nomination of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) candidate, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori as the party flag bearer in the Dokolo district Woman member of parliament by-election.
The nomination exercise for all candidates will kick off tomorrow and closes on Tuesday 12 March, 2024 at 5pm.
According to UPC, the Party President Hon. Jimmy Akena will lead the Congress fraternity to nominate Aguti Nyangkori at the EC offices in Dokolo.
Muzeyi Faizo, the head of media and communications at UPC says this is being done to realize their commitment to rebuild the party through grassroot mobilisations.
Pointing out the landslide victory in Oyam North, the UPC President confirmed that the entire party top leadership will be on the ground in support of their candidate.
Sarah Aguti Nyangori was declared the official Party flag bearer for the Dokolo Woman MP seat after stepping down of Josephine Acen Okullu and Anna Okwir who had shown interest in the position, but stepped down in favor of Aguti following a conference held on 19th February, 2024 at Dokolo Catholic Parish.
The Dokolo district Woman MP seat fell vacant following the death of their former MP Hon. Cecilia Ogwal who passed on January 18, in India. The Electoral Commission set Thursday March 21, as dates for the by-election of the new Dokolo district Woman MP.
