The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has advised members of the public to avoid moving at night during the upcoming Christmas festive season, warning that criminals often take advantage of the period to steal people’s property.
Bishop Akanjuna made the remarks yesterday during a press conference held at the Bishop’s Office in the Diocese of Kigezi while releasing his Christmas message.
He emphasized that people should, as much as possible, move during the daytime and avoid unnecessary night movements. The Bishop advised the public to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ during the day and return home early, noting that criminal activity tends to increase at night during the Christmas season.
He explained that individuals seeking to steal or engage in other illegal activities often operate at night, breaking into people’s homes and stealing property.
The Bishop urged families to strengthen security within their homes and communities during the festive season to protect lives and property.
He also called upon children to respect their parents and guardians during the holiday period and encouraged families to live in harmony. He advised women to love and support their husbands and encouraged all Christians to attend church services during the festive season.
Bishop Akanjuna further appealed to security officers to continue protecting Ugandans and their property and to ensure peace across the country during the Christmas celebrations.
