EC Nominates Keffa Mafumo Butiru County MP Seat! Wild Jubilations Rock Butiru As He Pledges Support For Women, Youths

The Electoral Commission in Budaka district has nominated Mujomba S. Gagi to contest for Iki-Iki Constituency member of parliament in the coming elections.

The nominations were done by Budaka district returning officer Norah at the district’s EC offices.

Mujomba who turned up dressed in a suit and white shirt, later spoke to journalists to whom he outlined a line of issues that he intends to solve once he is elected.

He said much attention will be given to women and youth. Mujomba popularly known as Mujomba Juuuu among the locals and the country at large, pledged to set up various skilling centers for youth and women to be able to start their own income generating activities. He said for example, many youth have gone to school after their parents selling land to pay fees but unfortunately, they’re now unemployed after finishing school. He said this has made several youth lose hope and an opportunity to join the money economy, adding that even several women are running homes as single mothers but without any meaningful source of income.

“I am coming because of women and youth. They don’t have jobs. As leaders, it’s our duty to find a way to help our people. I have already started on this program by setting up a skilling center where women and youth will be trained in various skills like tailoring, motor vehicle mechanics, baking, hairdressing and so on” he said.

Mujomba also had a strong message for the farmers. He noted that Budaka and Bukedi subregion in general was famous for cotton production but this crop has since vanished. He said since the Subregion still has good soils, it’s important farmers now engage in other crops like maize, melons, poultry farming and dairy to be able to earn good income. He noted that currently, Budaka produces mangoes and rice. He said that the prices for mangoes are so miserable that a bag goes for only Shs10000, a situation he said is inflicting heavy losses to the farmers. He pledged to give free agricultural inputs like seeds and tools once he gets to Parliament.

Meanwhile, his nomination has excited the locals mainly women who lined up on the roads to welcome him as he returned from the nomination center.
