•Express 1-0 URA
•BUL 3-0 Wakiso Giants
Express FC regained their winning momentum with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over URA FC in a league clash at a rain-soaked Wankulukuku stadium.
Under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Baker Mbowa and assistant Mike Mutyaba, Express secured their first win since the departure of former coach Alex Isabirye.
The solitary goal came from Isaac Wagoina, who soared in the air to head in Marvin Oshaba’s precise delivery. This marked a turning point for Express after suffering defeats in their previous three matches against SC Villa, Wakiso Giants, and Maroons FC.
Safi Mansoor had an ambitious long-range attempt that failed to punish the goalkeeper who had moved miles off his goal.
Norman Namanya’s chance was thwarted by Express goalkeeper Abubakar Yunus, denying URA an equalizer.
Express had opportunities to break the deadlock earlier, with Wagoina missing a clear chance before redeeming himself with a well-executed header just before halftime.
URA pressed for an equalizer in the second half, but Ronald Andabati’s attempt was kept out by the vigilant Express goalkeeper.
Eddy Ssebandeke came close to doubling Express’ advantage, only to be denied by the woodwork.
Abubakar Yunus ensured Express secured all three points with a crucial save from James Begisa’s long-range effort.
With this win, Express FC climbed to seventh place in the league standings with 32 points, edging past URA FC. Their next challenge awaits as they visit BUL FC on April 20, while URA FC will host NEC FC on April 16.
