The residents of Kasiiso village in Butuntumula subcounty in Luweero district have been shocked when a fellow resident’s child who was playing with a matchbox in bed died in a fire that engulfed the blankets and destroyed the house.
The deceased was identified as Kiggundu Abdul, 5, son of Mukiibi Ali and Babirye Grace. The deceased was a student at Kasiiso Infant Nursery School in the Baby class.
The mother and grandmother of the child had went to the funeral nearby at the time of the incident, where the news of the fire found them and rushed to the rescue, unfortunately they found the child dead.
Police have recovered the body and taken it to Luweero General Hospital for further examination.
