Uganda Premier League (UPL) new entrants Lugazi have announced the signing of goalkeeper George William Oluka from Maroons.
The former Uganda youth international has signed a one-year contract with The Leaders, and he will fight for his place in-between the sticks with two other goalkeepers; Fahad Emuran and Juma Mutebi.
Emuran, who won the Golden Glove last season was retained from the Big League squad that qualified the team to the UPL, while Mutebi joined the Leaders from KCCA.
Oluka was instrumental for the Uganda Cubs (U-17) team that won bronze in the CECAFA U-17 Championship in 2018, and was also part of that Junior side that qualified for the 2021 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
He began his career at Mengo Children Foundation Academy in 2008 before he was transferred to Black Stars Namasuba in 2013.
In the football competitions for schools, the goalkeeper featured for St. Juliana High School Gayaza and Buddo S.S – playing in the FEASSA Games 2018 – Rwanda with the latter.
His eye-catching performances in the championship caught the keen eye of Tooro United who signed him up that same year. He has been at Maroons since 2021.
The Leaders have also signed Basham Mugwa, Rogers Atube, Rogers Adriko, Sharif Saaka, Dennis Lubowa, Nelson Mandela, Emmanuel Obua, Ian Amanya, Juma Mutebi, and Bashir Asiku.
