God Doesn’t Like Lazy People – Rev Joshua Lujja

Kayunga – Nazigo : More than 60 Christians were today confirmed at St. Balunabba Church, Nazigo Parish in the Archdeaconry of Kangulumira, Mukono Diocese.

The 5th Bishop of Mukono, Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo, presided over the confirmation and Holy Communion, where he urged them to care for the nation through practical good works, and environmental conservation including tree planting.

*Bishop Kagodo* condemned rising immorality, drug abuse and environmental degradation linking much of it to the misuse of polythene bags, calling on government to enforce the existing laws.

He appealed to parents not to send children to school without providing basic requirements like lunch, uniforms, and other needs saying, *“The government pays teachers, but you must contribute to school activities.”*

He warned the newly confirmed against ungodly conduct and cautioned land grabbers that God’s judgment will bring curses on their families.

In his sermon, *The Bishop’s chaplain, Rev. Joshua Lujja,* praised women on their day and encouraged steadfastness amid existing challenges.

Echoing the diocesan theme of the week, “ *Start small, but do something,”* Rev. Lujja reminded Christians that God rejects idleness as it’s written in 1 Thessalonians 3:6–15; and Proverbs 6:6–11: *“God doesn’t want us beggers or burdensome” reminding them that “hard work carries no curse.”* He urged people to use their time and talents to glorify Christ by example.

*The Parish Priest Rev. Ssebuko Eliphaz Bwabye* cited challenges; livestock, land, and food theft by unemployed youth; witchcraft; and divisions amongst the communities but noted progress through gospel preaching, increased attendance and participation in church programs, construction of the clergy housing, and projects such as cultivation of banana and coffee plantations.

Marking the International Women’s Day, *Mrs. Catherine Kitto* wife to the Bishop, urged women to be proud of what they are, knowledgeable, hardworking, and faithful. She asked parents to teach children morals and faith for their future.

Nazigo Parish includes seven churches of; Kiremeezi, Nakakonge, Gayaza, Nsiima, Kyampisi, Kirindi, St. Balunabba—and Senda Chapel.
