Headteacher Arrested for Issuing False PLE Results

0

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has apprehended Lilian Ayebazibwe, the headteacher of Bubaale Primary School in Bushenyi district.

UNEB Spokesperson Jennifer Kalule says that Ayebazibwe allegedly issued 114 of her former Primary Seven candidates with false Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results.

Ayebazibwe had appeared for a hearing at UNEB in Kampala due to suspected malpractice, resulting in the withholding of exam results for 114 candidates.

Information obtained from UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule revealed that during the hearing, it was discovered that the school administrators provided fake results to candidates on testimonial forms.

Kalule mentioned that UNEB learned that all 114 affected candidates used these testimonials with inaccurate results to enroll in senior one.

“We are still gathering more information on this case,” Kalule stated in a telephone interview. Despite releasing PLE results on January 25, UNEB did not disclose the number of suspected malpractice cases or the involved schools. At the time, UNEB executive director Dan Odongo defended the decision, citing potential harm to innocent schools from premature announcements.

Ayebazibwe has been handed over to Police for further investigations and the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire has confirmed her arrest.
