High Court Kicks off with Hearing of Gaba Toddlers Killing Case in an Open Space

Kampala– The High Court of Uganda will today commence the hearing of a murder case against Christopher Okello who is accused of murdering four toddlers at Ggaba Early Childhood Day Care Center.

The trial is expected to be held at Gaba Community School grounds near the scene of crime so as to enable the community members participate directly in the whole hearing process.

“The heartbreaking killing of infants in Gaba case proceedings will be held in open court. The trial is scheduled to commence on Monday, 13th April, and will run for one week.” Revealed Hon. Balaam Barugahare, State Minister for Children

That the court sessions will will run daily from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

To ensure wider public access, screens and speakers will be installed for live viewing, and the trial will also be broadcast on major television stations.

Last week, Makindye Magistrates Court committed Onyum to High Court for trial after gathering enough evidence required to sustain a trial.

Prosecution contends that Christopher Okello Onyum on 2nd April at Ggaba early Childhood Development Center at Ggaba Trading Zone, Ggaba Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District with Malice a fore sought, caused the death of Eteku Gideon, Keith Agenorwoth Otim, Sseruyange Ignatius and Odeke Ryan.
