If I am getting mileage out of political prisoners, release them so I lose it- Bobi Wine

National Unity Platform president, Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine has dared government to release all political prisoners so that he loses the political capital he has been accused of gaining out of their detention.

“You say we use the situation of detained NUP supporters for our own benefit, then release them so we lose the political capital and mileage we get out of them.  Release them so you can ashame us,” Bobi Wine said on Eid day.

Since his appointment as State Minister for Youths, Balaam Barugahara has vowed to help in the release of all political prisoners.

He presented the matter to President Museveni who promised to look into it and have only those not facing capital offences released.

Last week, Barugahara accused NUP of refusing to hand over the list of missing party supporters who are believed to be detained in various prisons around the country.

The opposition political party has on several occasions been accused of using the list of missing persons to achieve its own political capital.

However, speaking on Wednesday, NUP president, Robert Kyagulanyi dispelled the claims saying they hold no water.

“If you think I am using them as a business, release them so my business collapses. When we talk about these persons, we are not telling lies. These people have been taken. “
