IPOD: Court sets ruling Date for NUP’s Case Against Government

KAMPALA– The High Court has set the 29th October 2025, as the date at which , it deliver a ruling in a case filed by the National Unity Platform (NUP) challenging its exclusion from the latest distribution of Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD) funding.

This matter was heard this week , before High Court Civil Division in Kampala, where lawyers representing the Government (Attorney General) and those from National Unity Platform, made their final submissions.

NUP accuses the Electoral Commission (EC) and the (IPOD) of illegally disbursing billions of shillings to other political parties while sidelining the country’s largest opposition party.

The case was heard in the Civil Division of the High Court, where lawyers representing the Attorney General, the Electoral Commission, and NUP presented further submissions.

The Attorney General, was represented by Senior State Attorney Johnson Natuhwera , Hamid Lugoloobi represented the Electoral Commission, as well as Elias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola, Jonathan Elotu, and Kakuru Tumusiime represented the National Unity Platform.

Through the Party Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya, NUP dragged Government to Court, challenging the decision of the justice and constitutional affairs minister Norbert Mao to exclude the party from receiving statutory political party funding.

These asked Court to entertain a Judicial review in the matter on top of considering a number of declarations and orders sought.
