Ivan Ahimbisibwe’s solitary strike secured URA’s first win of the season in their second league match, played at Kavumba.

The victory extends URA’s unbeaten run at Bright Stars’ home ground, with the Tax Collectors yet to lose away to Bright Stars since 2017.

Following a defeat in their opener, URA’s win moves them from 14th to 8th place on the table, while Bright Stars, who drew their first match, drop from 8th to 13th.

Ahimbisibwe scored just before halftime, turning Moses Aliro’s assist into a goal at the far-right post to give the visitors the lead.

Earlier in the game, Norman Namanya thought he had put URA ahead, but his finish was ruled offside.

Bright Stars’ first chance came from Nelson Ssenkatuuka, whose close-range effort was blocked by URA goalkeeper Derrick Ochan.

Substitute Mulindi had a late opportunity to equalize in the final five minutes, but his shot narrowly missed the far post.

Despite the win, URA faced a setback when Huud Mulikyi was stretchered off with an injury in the 84th minute.

Bright Stars will face Police FC in their next fixture on Tuesday, 24th September, while URA will host Mbarara City on Saturday, 28th September, at Nakivubo.
