JKL Lady Dolphins have evened the National Basketball League (NBL) Finals series at 2-2 after a hard-fought 60-53 victory over the UCU Lady Canons on Wednesday at Lugogo.
The Lady Dolphins dominated from start to finish, capitalizing on UCU’s sluggish start, which saw them trailing 8-20 by the end of the first quarter.
Despite a resilient comeback effort by UCU, which twice cut the deficit to just three points in the final quarter, they were unable to find an equalizer.
The Lady Dolphins, who had trailed 0-2 in the series, held on to secure the win and complete their comeback.
Jane Asinde led the charge for the Lady Dolphins with an impressive double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
Brenda Ekone also contributed significantly, adding 10 points to the winning effort.
On the UCU side, Shillah Lamunu and Shakirah Nanvubya each scored 14 points, with Nanvubya also pulling down 10 rebounds.
However, UCU’s struggles on the boards were evident as they were out-rebounded 45-66, and their three-point shooting woes continued, missing 21 of their 24 attempts from beyond the arc.
With the best-of-seven series now level, all eyes are on Game Five, set for Friday.
