Journalist Omusawo Tintah Joins LGBTQ Community in Canada After Seeking Asylum

Former renowned Ugandan journalist Male Deogratius, also known as Omusawo Tintah, has reportedly joined the LGBTQ community in Canada after seeking asylum there in early May following a harrowing attack and subsequent threats.

Earlier this week, Male Deogratius was seen in high spirits as he was welcomed by Julie Mutesasira, a well-known self-confessed lesbian, former pastor’s wife, and singer in Uganda, who also relocated to Canada.

Reports suggest that Male was officially welcomed to the gay community by Julie Mutesasira. However, it remains unclear whether he will limit his involvement to advocating for LGBTQ rights or if he is also a practitioner.

It should be recalled that Male fled to Canada after being assaulted by unidentified assailants on the night of April 15, 2024, near his residence on Salama Road, Kubadongo, Makindye Division Council, Kampala.

Following the attack, Male was promptly taken to Good Samaritan Clinic in Makindye for medical treatment. He left Uganda for Canada fearing for his safety after receiving warnings from his attackers to cease his advocacy work, particularly regarding human rights and LGBTQ rights on his platform, “www.hoimapost.co.ug.”
