Kamuli woman who cut off husband’s genitals jailed 15 years

The magistrates court in Kamuli has sentenced  a woman who cut off her husband’s genitals to 15 years imprisonment.

Susan Namuganza who pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted murder was on Friday sentenced to 15 years in jail after the trial magistrate said the act led to permanent damage on her husband, Moses Kawubanya’s body.

The magistrate said the punishment ought to serve as lesson to other would be offenders that crime doesn’t pay.

The 34 year old chopped off her husband, Moses Kawubanya, 45’s genitals last month before fleeing into hiding.

The incident happened when Kawubanya had just finished taking a bath and had wrapped a towel around his wait when the wife pretended as he she was going to breastfeed their baby and picked a knife and chopped off the genitals.

She  was arrested from her sister’s home on Tuesday before being arraigned before court where she pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted murder.

On Friday, the trial magistrate told Namuganza that she has a right to appeal in 14 days.
