Richard Ogwang | Katakwi, (UG): Aggrieved locals of Kapelebyong and Katakwi districts managed to sneak an envelope containing a joint protest to President Museveni regarding uncompleted water projects by the Ministry of Water and Environment in their respective districts.
According to sources, the documents indicate how the Ministry of Water and Environment has failed to complete valley tanks in Kapelebyong and Katakwi, now for nearly five years.
State House staff who received the document from the locals and handed it to one of the highest-ranking officials closest to President Museveni assured the locals that their complaints will be addressed.
In Katakwi, locals are protesting the delayed completion of a multibillion valley tank in Aleles village in Palam sub-county.

According to Mr. Martin Agwarata, the sub-county chairperson of Palam, the work done so far in Aleles dam does not justify the millions of shillings spent.
“We don’t know why the Ministry of Water has not prioritized completing this valley dam of Aleles; it’s very disappointing,” he said.
Mr. Agwarata mentioned that since the work started three years ago, no official from the Ministry has engaged the sub-county council, nor have they visited or signed the visitors’ book at the LC3 office.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the Ministry of Water and Environment were futile as they could not be located.
