Kasingye announced his decision after the club secretariat clarified that any individual seeking to contest for the presidency must pay a nomination fee of UGX 100 million, contrary to the UGX 20 million figure he had earlier communicated.

In a notice released on Friday, the SC Villa Secretariat confirmed that the amount had already been approved by club members during a general meeting.

“This is to clarify that the nomination fee for the position of President of Sports Club Villa was resolved and approved by the members of the club during a General Meeting to be UGX 100,000,000 (Uganda Shillings One Hundred Million Only),” the statement read.

Sources within the club indicate that Kasingye had earlier spoken as the official mouthpiece of the club when he referenced the lower nomination fee. However, he was reportedly surprised to learn about the official communication confirming a higher amount, prompting his decision to step aside from the spokesperson role.

His resignation adds a new twist to the leadership discussions within SC Villa as the club prepares for its forthcoming presidential contest.
