Kawempe Muslim, Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Women’s Champions League, has discovered its path to the coveted title after the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers draw held at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday.
The 2023/24 FUFA Women Super League champions, who defeated Kampala Queens to claim the title, have been placed in Group B alongside Simba Queens (Tanzania), PVD Buyenzi (Burundi), and FAD Djibouti.
Group A consists of CBE (Ethiopia), Kenya Police Bullets, Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan), Warriors Queens (Kenya), and Rayon Sports (Rwanda).
The CECAFA Zonal qualifier for the CAF Women’s Champions League is scheduled to take place from August 17th to September 4th, 2024, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The winner will secure a spot in the prestigious CAF Women’s Champions League, a feat no Ugandan team has achieved before.
Kenya’s Vihiga Queens WFC, Simba Queens (Tanzania), and JKT Queens (Tanzania) have previously won the zonal qualifiers, held in Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, and Njeru, respectively.
Kawempe Muslim will aim to make history and become the first Ugandan team to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
