KCCA Condemns Unauthorized Demolition of Owino Market

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has condemned the unauthorized demolition for part of St. Balikudembe Market popularly known as Owino Market.

In a statement released by KCCA, they allege that individuals who engaged in this illegal demolition arrived around 10:00 p.m. on March 7, 2026. That these demolished a structure along the Nakivubo Channel boundary on Sebana Road without a mandatory demolition permit from the city authority as required by the law.

It has been revealed that after foiling the demolition, Police arrested operators of two excavators used in the demolition pending investigations on who is behind the whole process.

KCCA says it is working with other agencies to salvage the remaining structure and assess the damage.

Now, this has left questions among many people’s heads with many asking themselves about who could be the individual behind this illegal demolition.
