KCCA Imposes Vehicle Restrictions in Kampala ahead of Kampala Car Free Day

KAMPALA– Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has announced that tomorrow , vehicles will not be allowed in Kampala City Center as the Country Celebrates Kampala Car Free Day.

“Kampala Capital City Authority is pleased to inform the general public that the Kampala Car Free Day will be held tomorrow, Saturday, 27 September, 2025 from 7:00 AM to 6:00 am , to promote active mobility and better air quality.” Reads part of Statement from KCCA

To ensure success of this event, certain road closures and traffic diversions will be put in place.

“Road Closures and Diversions Nile Avenue: Motorized traffic will be diverted at Statistics House.”

Restricted Entry Points

Vehicles will not be allowed into the car-free corridor at the following junctions: Kampala Road and Shimoni Road Ternan Avenue, Kampala Road and Speke Road, Buganda Road and Kyaggwe Road and City Square.

The Alternative Routes include; Yusuf Lule Road, Parliament Avenue and Kampala Road.
