Hoima-based Uganda Premier League (UPL) side Kitara has officially confirmed two new signings, shortly after the closure of the 2024/25 season primary transfer window.

“Umar Lutalo and Rogers Mugisha will start a new chapter in their football careers with Kitara,” the club confirmed on Sunday evening.

Lutalo joins in from UPL defending champions SC Villa, while Mugisha last played for AC Horsens in Denmark. Each one of the two players has signed a one-year deal with the Royals, respectively.

Kitara head coach Brian Ssenyondo believes the youngsters are quality additions who will make a good impact on the squad. He said;

“Lutalo is a winner, we all know that he was one of the best players at his former club last season so we are excited because he brings character plus quality.”

“For Rogers (Mugisha), he’s young, ambitious and we are confident these two will give us depth and options going forward.”

Lutalo spent the last three seasons at Villa, where he played 54 matches and scored 10 goals. In his third season, he won the 2023/24 league title with the Jogoos.

The left footed attacker who has played for both the Uganda U20 and the Senior National Team brings with him quality experience and versatility to the Kitara squad.

Lutalo can operate effectively on either side of the flanks, midfield, and fill-in the leftback role whenever called upon.

Mugisha, who joined Kitara from a Danish first division side also previously played in the UPL, for UPDF.

Before moving to Denmark, the forward had won the 2022/23 Kenya Premier title with Gor Mahia, under former Uganda Cranes head coach Jonathan McKinstry.

Mugisha has played for the Uganda U17 and U20 National Teams, and was named in the team of the tournament at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, 2023.
