Preview: NEC Start Life At Royals Park Butema

Kitara will be aiming for a strong start at their new venue, Royals Park in Butema, as they host NEC FC in Fort Portal.

Previously, Kitara played their home games at Masindi Stadium while Royals Park was under preparation, forcing their core fans to travel from Hoima to Masindi for matches.

Despite this, Kitara finished fourth last season, their first back in the top flight after promotion from the FUFA Big League.

They also claimed the Uganda Cup, defeating NEC 1-0 in the final at Wankulukuku.

This season, Kitara began their league campaign with a commanding 3-0 away victory over newcomers Lugazi FC, with Frank Tumwesigye scoring and Jude Ssemugabi adding a brace.

NEC, meanwhile, shocked Vipers with a 3-1 win to kick off their own campaign, with goals from Paul Mucureezi, Muzamir Mutyaba, and Cromwell Rwothomio.

Last season, this fixture ended 1-0 both times, with each team winning at home.

Kitara’s preparations have been shadowed by the news linking their treasured striker Denis Omedi to KCCA FC
