Lady Doves FC, the Masindi-based women’s football team, will use Katushabe Dove Stadium and Royals Park Buteema as their home grounds for this new Women Super League season.

The club has also undergone a squad overhaul, signing four new players while releasing their former captain, Norah Alupo, who has joined She Maroons FC.

The 2020/2021 Uganda Women’s Super League champions are hungry for silverware, with their last campaign ending in a fourth-place finish during the 2023/2024 season.

The team’s Media Officer, Yasin Mushin, expressed optimism about improving on last season’s performance, crediting the new additions to the squad.

“We’re excited about the new season, and with the addition of four talented players, we’re confident we can improve on last season’s 4th place finish,” Yasin stated.

“Our goal is clear: we want to become champions this season. The squad is stronger, and we’re ready for the challenge.”

Among the new signings are Winnie Komugisha, who joins on a one-year loan from She Maroons, and Suzan Nalukoda from Kawempe Muslim WFC.

The team also brought in free agents Jaon Bafuuna and Safina Namaweje. Meanwhile, Norah Alupo, the club’s former captain, moved to She Maroons.

After an intensive preseason, Lady Doves FC is gearing up for a strong start to the season, with their opening match set for this Saturday against Tooro Queens at Katushabe Dove Stadium in Masindi.

“We’ve worked hard in preseason, and we’re ready to take on Tooro Queens in our first home game. Our fans will be crucial in driving us forward to victory,” Yasin added.

In a partnership with Kitara FC, Lady Doves FC will split their home matches between Katushabe Dove Stadium and Royals Park Buteema, the latter being Kitara FC’s home ground. Lady Doves will play three matches at Royals Park this season.
