Lady Justice Kazaarwe Re- elected President of Women Judges Association


Kampala — Members of the International Association of Women Judges – Uganda Chapter (IAWJ-UC) have elected a new leadership team during their Elective Annual General Meeting, ushering in a fresh mandate to steer the association’s work.

Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya was elevated from Vice President to President, while Joyce Kavuma was elected Vice President.
In her remarks, Justice Kazaarwe Mukwaya reaffirmed her commitment to “service above self,” emphasizing that leadership within the association is anchored on dedication, sacrifice, and a passion for serving vulnerable communities without expectation of financial reward. She expressed confidence in the newly elected executive, describing them as experienced leaders capable of advancing the association’s mission.
Other elected office bearers include Elizabeth Jane Alividza as International Director, Dorothy Lwanga as Treasurer, Stella Amabilis as Assistant Treasurer, Roselyn Nsenge as General Secretary, Pamela Bomukama as Assistant General Secretary, Rehema Nassozi Ssebbowa as Publicity Secretary, Irene Namae as Assistant Publicity Secretary, and Fortunate Kamukama as Representative of Founder Members.
The association also elected representatives across various judicial levels. At the Supreme Court, Elizabeth Musoke and Catherine Bamugemereire were chosen. For the Court of Appeal, the representatives are Eva Luswata, Florence Nakachwa Dollo, and Cornelia Sabiti.
At the High Court level, members elected Anna Mugenyi, Susan Abinyo, and Ida Nakiganda. Registrars’ representatives are Zulaika Nanteza and Sarah Tusiime.
Among Chief Magistrates, Marion Ninsiima, Winfred Kyobiika, and Hope Bagyenda were elected, while representatives for Magistrates include Patience Koburunga, Christine Turibamwe, and Rehmur Namwanje.
The Annual General Meeting concluded on a celebratory note, featuring a performance by Anne Kansiime, followed by a lively dance session that brought members together in unity and celebration.
