Lagan-Dott Namanve Limited , the company contracted to  develop key enabling infrastructure including roads, drainage systems and fibre optics in Namanve Industrial Park has dismissed claims of a taxation dispute on the project as “propaganda”.

Commenting about the matter which arose out of a stormy meeting on the shs500 million ‘service award’ called by President Museveni and attended by the Uganda Investment Authority management and attended by the Minister for Investment Evelyn Anite among others, Eng. Andrew Bamanya, the chairperson of the joint-venture board said they have noted several inconsistences.

“We understand that an investigation is underway, and we fully respect that process. There is no company under the name ‘Dott’ executing the main contract at Kampala Industrial Business Park. Instead, the work is being carried out by a registered joint venture company named LaganDott Namanve Ltd,” Bamanya said.

“We stand by this clarification and emphasize that any claims to the contrary are mistaken.” When addressing the spread of false information.

He warned that their legal team is evaluating the possibility of taking legal action against anyone spreading false propaganda about the company.

Concerning the disputed €8 million, Bamanya said, “We are fully entitled to this variation in price. A variation order is currently being concluded to accommodate the additional costs associated with balancing the cash flow of the company due to the escalation of goods prices.”

He assured the public and all stakeholders that  works at Kampala Industrial Business Park are proceeding smoothly.

“LaganDott  Namanve Ltd remains dedicated to delivering on our commitments and contributing to the development of the park.”

The Ugandan government in 2019 secured €249million (approximately shs1 trillion) from the UK Export Finance to develop key enabling infrastructure in the Namanve industrial park.

The project was handed to a joint venture by UK company, Lagan Group Limited and Dott Services Limited.

The project involves the development of the road network, water distribution network including a reservoir, sewerage network including underground sewer pipes, waste treatment plant, CCTV network, solar street lighting and firefighting equipment for the entire industrial park.
