Over 10,000 individuals have been invited by British Columbia in 2021
On 2nd November, British Columbia asked 77 tech employees to submit for a provincial nomination under the BC PNP (British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program) tech stream. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is an economic immigration route used by the British Columbia government to attract experienced, in-demand foreign professionals. For people who want to live and work in British Columbia, the program offers a road to permanent residency.
Candidates invited through the Tech draws in British Columbia must meet the requirements of one of the province’s Express Entry BC or Skills immigration categories, which are managed by the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
Candidates in this draw came from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories with a provincial score of 75 to be invited. Candidates who have been requested to apply for nomination now have 30 days to do so. So far in 2021, British Columbia has issued over 10,000 invitations to submit for provincial nomination.

Following a labour market evaluation, the BC PNP Tech was launched as a pilot program in May 2017, with the most pressing concern affecting BC’s technology business being access to talent. British Columbia opted to make the initiative a permanent program due to its success. Its objective is to allow enterprises in British Columbia’s technology industry to continue to seek and choose international talent when competent individuals are not accessible locally.
The BC PNP Computer, in particular, is a fast-track immigration option for in-demand IT professionals and overseas students. To qualify for the stream, candidates must be registered in one of BC’s current provincial immigration streams and have a valid 12-month employment offer in one of 29 recognized occupations.
Job offers under the BC PNP Tech must be for a minimum of one year, with at least 120 days left at the time of application to the BC PNP. It must also be full-time and from a province-approved employer. On a weekly basis, the province’s tech program distributes invites to the top-scoring people who meet the qualifying requirements.
Candidates who are asked to seek a provincial nomination must fill out the whole application. After this is accomplished, most tech applications will be granted in two to three months. Applicants who are approved will get a nomination confirmation letter from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which they can use to apply for permanent residence under the Provincial Nominee Program Class.
PNP candidates are automatically awarded 600 points for their Comprehensive Ranking System score, increasing their chances of earning an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency through Express Entry.
