The Luuka District police force is currently engaged in a search operation for five individuals suspected of orchestrating a robbery, resulting in the theft of 98.3 million shillings from two residences. The victims of this brazen act have been identified as 39-year-old Moses Lwokyaza, a sugar cane farmer, and his father Francis Kudaga, a local businessman. The incidents transpired at Bugoba village, Budondo parish, Bukanga Sub-County, within Luuka District, sending shockwaves through the community.

According to Micheal Kasadha, the spokesperson for the Busoga region, initial investigations indicate that the robbery occurred on February 29th, around 11:00 pm local time. Kasadha elaborated that a group of five unidentified armed assailants, three of whom were clad in military attire and armed with a pistol and an AK-47 rifle, forcefully entered the homes of Lwokyaza and his father, Kudaga.

In a harrowing ordeal, the assailants subjected the victims to physical violence and menacing threats, coercing them into surrendering their valuables, including a substantial sum of cash. The proximity of Lwokyaza’s residence, located approximately one kilometer from his father’s home within the same village, did not deter the audacious criminals from executing their nefarious plan.

Kasadha issued a stern warning to residents, emphasizing the risks associated with storing large amounts of money within their homes. Urging individuals to prioritize secure banking channels for financial transactions, he underscored the importance of safeguarding oneself against such criminal activities.

Furthermore, Kasadha called upon the local community to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or individuals within the vicinity. He assured the public that law enforcement agencies are diligently pursuing leads and conducting thorough investigations to apprehend the suspects responsible for this egregious crime.

Highlighting the rarity of such incidents in the region, Kasadha noted that this robbery marked the first reported case of aggravated theft since the onset of the year. However, he referenced a previous incident in December of the preceding year, where a businesswoman fell victim to a similar crime, losing 10 million shillings in Nakibizi, Mbiko, Buikwe district.
