In a statement shared via her official account on X, Nsibirwa described the reports as false and urged the public to disregard what she termed as misinformation.

“And that’s why DailyMonitor tells the truth every day — so that misinformation and disinformation are not our staple food. Please ignore the post below as fake news. Thank you,” she said.

Her remarks follow widespread speculation on various social media platforms suggesting that one of Uganda’s oldest private daily newspapers was preparing to shut down operations due to declining daily sales.

Some online posts alleged that the publication had struggled financially for years and had failed to secure a buyer, reportedly prompting a decision by regional leadership in Nairobi to close the paper. The posts also claimed that some of its counterparts in Nairobi had already ceased operations.

However, Nsibirwa’s response seeks to reassure readers and stakeholders that the claims about the newspaper’s closure are unfounded.
