The anticipation for thrilling football encounters reached new heights following the unveiling of the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 draw, conducted Monday morning at the FUFA house in Mengo.
With four out of eight ties set to feature Uganda Premier League (UPL) sides squaring off, fans can expect fierce battles on the pitch during matches scheduled to take place between March 1-7.
Among the standout fixtures, joint-record holders Express FC, boasting 10 titles to their name, are poised for an electrifying showdown against BUL FC at Njeru.
Meanwhile, KCCA FC, also ten-time champions, are geared up for a challenging away fixture against David Obua’s URA FC, who have clinched the title three times.
In another highly-anticipated clash, Kitara FC, fresh from a league double over KCCA, will host nine-time champions SC Villa, promising an enthralling spectacle for football enthusiasts.
Adding to the excitement, Busoga United will lock horns with league newcomers NEC FC in another all-UPL affair, further intensifying the competition among the top-flight teams.
Defending champions Vipers SC will defend their title on home turf as they welcome Iganga Young at Kitende. Iganga Young, a regional league side, showcased their prowess by eliminating Kyetume in the previous round.
Elsewhere, Bright Stars, finalists in 2019 against Proline in Masaka, will square off against last year’s finalists Police FC, the remaining FUFA Big League representatives, in a bid to advance further in the competition.
Dove FC will play host to Packwach Young Stars, who caused a stir by eliminating Wakiso Giants.
Regional League sides Pajule Lions and Young Simba will vie for a spot in the next round in another compelling fixture.
