President Museveni has commissioned a state of the art operations centre for the Special Forces Command in Entebbe.

Speaking during the function the president hailed SFC for heeding his message on prioritization.

“The UPDF’s journey and survival resilt from our ability to adapt to every situation through meticulous situational analysis. Prioritization is critical to our success by focusing on what truly matters which ensures our effectiveness instead of just being everywhere,” Museveni said.

“From the beginning when in the bush we were not getting salary but food. When we came into government, we told our people you are not getting enough salary but if you build army primary and secondary schools where children study for free, you will compensate for the low salary you are getting. Even if I am getting low salary and my children study free. Then also have army health centres.”

The president underscored the role of prioritization.

“Prioritization is very important. Making everything a priority is the best way to fail. If you try to make everything a priority, you will fail. Even when you are walking, you put one leg up and  the other one must remain down. Try to put both legs in the air and you will see problems.”

He hailed SFC for naming the new operations centre ‘Akandwanaho’ in honour of the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation and the role he has played in the professionalization of the UPDF.

The Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Jacob Oboth Oboth said owing to President Museveni’s guidance, the UPDF engineering brigade has saved government huge sums of money by undertaking construction of projects which would otherwise be done by private contractors .

“Your strategic leadership is enabling the UPDF and Ministry of defence to set landmarks in this country that we believe will be of great benefit. Using the engineers brigade, a lot of money has been saved and Ugandans are proud of directive made. They have constructed schools and health centres at half the cost,” Minister Oboth Oboth said.

The Commander of the Land Forces, Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga said the UPDF has been able to construct a number of facilities including housing units among others in the last few years, following the president’s advice on prioritization.

The SFC commander, Maj Gen Davidu Mugisha applauded President Museveni for the unwavering support to the profesionalisation of the UPDF.

He said the newly constructed operations centre will be of great use to the UPDF and the country at large.

At the same ceremony, the president opened a state of the art gym facility for SFC.
