The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has directed the NRM mobilisation teams to ensure the effective distribution of the party’s 2026–2031 manifesto across all parishes in the country.

While addressing thousands of NRM supporters at Nyadri Urban Secondary School playgrounds in Maracha District, Museveni emphasized that the manifesto outlines the NRM’s strategic ambitions to protect past gains and propel Uganda into a high middle-income status.

He urged the electorate to understand and embrace the nine thematic areas of the NRM’s development focus, including; Peace and security as a foundation for growth, Wealth and job creation, Industrialization, Education and Infrastructure, among others

General Museveni cautioned the people of Maracha against falling back into divisive and sectarian politics based on tribe or gender. He reminded them of Uganda’s turbulent past under sectarian regimes, which displaced many citizens into the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan until the NRM government restored peace and stability.

“Politics is like medicine,” Museveni said. “You need leaders who can diagnose society’s problems and prescribe the right cure.”

The NRM presidential candidate encouraged the people of Maracha and the entire West Nile sub-region to capitalize on their strategic location bordering the DRC and South Sudan. He noted that cross-border trade presents vast opportunities for economic advancement.

Museveni pointed out that the NRM government has laid the foundation for industrialization and wealth creation by improving the enabling environment. He urged local entrepreneurs to scale up their business ventures to tap into regional markets.

Museveni pledged to prioritize:

Last-mile electricity distribution to all sub-counties in Maracha District in the upcoming term, as part of the 132KV power grid expansion for West Nile.

Equitable distribution of schools, noting that some parishes in the district were erroneously allocated more schools while others were left out. He committed to correcting this imbalance by establishing primary and secondary schools in underserved areas.

He also reiterated the government’s plan to invest future oil revenues in transformative infrastructure projects such as railways, roads, and scientific innovation hubs.

In response to delays in the operationalization of SACCO funds for graduates of the Presidential Skilling Hub in West Nile, President Museveni grilled the Maracha District Deputy RDC. He then tasked NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Denis Hamson Obua, to follow up on the matter. Obua later confirmed that the funds are secure in Centenary Bank’s Arua branch, awaiting disbursement.

Museveni concluded his address by calling on the people of Maracha to abandon subsistence farming and fully embrace government-led wealth creation programs for sustainable livelihoods and economic independence.
