Nabbanja Emphasizes Security Investment for Women’s Prosperity

0

Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah the Prime Minister of Uganda has stressed the importance of investing in national and regional security to ensure women can thrive in their communities.

The Premier delivered these remarks in a keynote address to Sudanese women leaders at Speke Resort in Kampala, during a crucial peace dialogue focused on achieving lasting peace and stability in Sudan on Wednesday.

Nabbanja emphasized that without security, women often become targets of gender-based violence, including sexual violence, trafficking, and exploitation.

The purpose of the dialogue is to amplify the voices and concerns of Sudanese women and girls and provide a platform for them to jointly articulate and develop a common vision for rebuilding peace in Sudan.

The civil war in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has wreaked havoc on the civilian population, leading to the largest internal displacement crisis in the world. The conflict has forced nine million people, especially women, to flee their homes.
