She Makerere 0-0 She Maroons
Defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies kicked off their 2024/25 Women Super League campaign in style with a commanding 3-0 victory over Rines WFC, inspired by a hat-trick from forward Agnes Nabukenya.
The match, held at Kawempe Valley, saw Nabukenya’s brilliance on full display as she led her team to a dominant win in their opener on Sunday morning.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Nabukenya coolly converted a penalty, awarded after Phiona Nabulime was fouled in the box.
She doubled the lead just before halftime with a well-timed finish, sending Rines WFC into the break reeling at 2-0.
Rines WFC, despite their efforts, struggled to match the intensity of the champions. Their best chance came early in the second half when former Kampala Queens player Sophia Nakiyingi missed an open opportunity to cut the deficit.
Kawempe sealed the result in the 57th minute when Nabukenya completed her hat-trick, cementing her place as the first player to net three goals in a match this season.
The defending champions’ solid start places them at the top of the league table as they set the pace for the new season.
