Nam Blazers displayed their prowess on Sunday once again with a commanding 84-69 triumph over Ndejje University Angels at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo in the National Basketball League.

Despite trailing 37-33 at halftime, the Blazers mounted a remarkable comeback in the second half.

Led by head coach Stephen Nyeko, the team rallied in the third quarter, outscoring their opponents 21-14 to take a narrow 54-51 lead into the final quarter.

They then sealed the victory with an impressive 30-18 performance in the last quarter.

Nam Blazers edges Ndejje on the boards, 56-53. Additionally, Ndejje’s struggles from the free-throw line, shooting 7-for-22, partly contributed to their downfall.

Peter Cheng led the scoring for Nam Blazers with 21 points, followed closely by Joseph Chuma, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

Paul Odong also made significant contributions with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Michael Makiadi added 9 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists to the winning effort.

For Ndejje University Angels, James Obrack had 19 points, supported by Cikom Monybai and Jonathan Oketch, who contributed 10 points each.

This victory marks Nam Blazers’ sixth consecutive win of the season, following triumphs over Livingston, City Oilers, JT Jaguars, Kampala Rockets, and KCCA Panthers.

While they started the season strongly with a win against KIU Titans, the Blazers faced a setback against Our Saviour in their second game, their only defeat to date.

On the other hand, the loss adds to Ndejje University Angels’ struggles this season, as they now have six losses in eight games. With relegation looming as a possibility, the team will need to regroup and address their weaknesses to improve their standing in the league.
