•Magic Stormers Vs Kampala University – 7pm
•Nam Blazers Vs Power – 9pm
Nam Blazers will hope to rub more salt in wounds of D-mark Power as the two sides clash in the National Basketball League fixture scheduled for Friday at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
This could have been a pulsating clash on any other day, byt five-time league champions, Power find themselves grappling with a challenging season, having secured victories in only two out of seven games thus far.
The recent woes for Power have been compounded by a string of three consecutive defeats, succumbing to JT Jaguars, Our Saviour, and KCCA Panthers following back-to-back triumphs over Kampala Rockets and JKL Dolphins.
A significant factor contributing to their struggles has been the inadequacy of a short-handed roster comprising just eight players.
This limitation has often hampered their rotation, and it becomes worse when players foul out during crucial junctures of the game.
In their recent encounter against KCCA, Power displayed flashes of competitiveness, seizing an early lead in the first quarter and establishing a commanding 12-point advantage at one stage.
However, their momentum faltered as the game progressed, with key player Phillip Ameny fouling out, while Elvis Ssentongo and Elvis Mutebi, had to hang on with four personal fouls.
Despite dominating the rebounding battle with a 51-46 advantage, Power were hard done by lack of production from their bench that secured only two points.
And this might be a recurring concern that could haunt them in the upcoming clash against the formidable Blazers.
In stark contrast, the Nam Blazers have enjoyed an impressive campaign thus far, notching up eight wins with just one defeat to their name, courtesy of Our Saviour.
The anticipation surrounding this fixture is further heightened by the presence of former Power players, including Geoffrey Soro, Michael Makiadi, Guddi ‘Kikiri’ Nasser, Innocent Ochera, and Paul Odong MacGyver, who are poised to confront their former team.
