I almost lost my mind after discovering that I had lost all my possessions due to my obsession of gambling in a local betting shop in Jinja Town. I’m Ephantus Efedha 24 years of age living in Kabras Jinja Town county. it’s just nine months after inheriting half of my late father Julius Wafula’s wealth. In his will I was given three acres of land and a pick up car. I had waited eagerly to receive my inheritance and start my own independent life, little did I know lack of knowledge and wisdom would punish my naivety.

My friend Erick kisauni was living a soft and lavish lifestyle with I admired a lot. After getting my portion of inheritance I sold two acres of land and invested in virtual and casino gambling. All my relatives were against my decision to sell ancestral land and told me that soon I would perish in poverty but I couldn’t listen, I even boasted rudely and they threatened to throw a curse on me. I went to the betting shop on a Monday with seven hundred and twenty thousand Ugandan shillings and started placing bets leisurely without care holding drinks surrounded by gorgeous beauties.

I lost all the money from which I had sold the land. I didn’t have luck to the extent that I could lose a bet in a blink of an eye. My returns never matched my stake so I ran broke but consoled myself with the remaining acre and the pick-up which I later sold in a garage at a throw away price to generate betting stake. I went back to the casino and lost all the money and went home empty handed shaking and shaking with a new nickname of “mwana mupotevu” which pissed me of every time I had it. I couldn’t believe peer pressure had made me lose all that inheritance worth three million Ugandan shillings.

I fell into depression, my family and loved ones pushed me away because they had warned me because I will be addicted to gambling and lose all I had. I started doing odd jobs just raise money for drugs since I had already given up with life. All the women I used to party with were nowhere to be seen.

Emily Naliaka my high school sweet heart whom I had dumped found me in a ditch drunk and took me to her place and offered to help me. She contacted Dr Mugwenu whom had helped her previously to increase profits in her saloon business which was already to collapse. Luckily Dr Mugwenu helped me using cleansing rituals and I was able to beat the gambling addiction. He took a step further and helped me find a well-paying job with a monthly salary of Kshs 90,800. Gradually my life became better as my family believed in me once again and I became a reliable member. All my friends came back and my life was back on track. I would recommend Dr Mugwenu to anyone one out there who’s a gambling addict ready to quit.
