National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has concluded his campaign trail in the West Nile sub-region with a final rally at Paridi Stadium in Adjumani District. Addressing thousands of supporters, Museveni emphasized the NRM government’s achievements and future plans centered around wealth creation, infrastructure development, and social service delivery.

Museveni urged the electorate to embrace household-level wealth creation initiatives, sustain peace and stability, and capitalize on government investments in macro infrastructure projects. He highlighted that the NRM has already secured key foundational pillars in West Nile, including security, roads, health, and education infrastructure.

“We have brought peace, built roads, and ensured security. The next step is to eradicate household poverty through wealth creation programs,” Museveni stated.

The NRM candidate elaborated on plans to lift citizens out of subsistence living through the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other socio-economic empowerment schemes. He emphasized scaling up these interventions to ensure broader inclusion of various population groups.

Museveni also assured voters that proceeds from Uganda’s oil resources will be used to fund critical development projects across the country, including in the West Nile region.

Reaffirming the NRM’s stance on free universal education, Museveni blamed corruption among some public school administrators and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) for undermining this goal. He pledged stronger enforcement measures and announced plans for the equitable distribution of primary and secondary schools at parish and sub-county levels.

Currently, Adjumani District boasts 77 government primary schools and 11 government secondary schools under the Universal Secondary and Post-Ordinary Level Education programs.

On health, Museveni attributed Adjumani’s growing population to improved healthcare interventions such as immunization and infrastructure development. The district has a General Hospital, a Health Center IV, 12 Health Center IIIs, and 23 Health Center IIs serving over 300,000 people. Museveni committed to further elevating and staffing health facilities, including deploying religious health cadres to support health monitoring at lower-level centers.

Museveni announced plans to complete key security roads between Adjumani and Obongi districts and instructed the Ministry of Works and Transport to ensure regular maintenance of both tarmac and murram roads to prevent deterioration.

NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Dennis Hamson Obua, called on the people of Adjumani to re-elect the NRM to preserve the stability achieved under Museveni’s leadership. “Previous regimes turned many of you into refugees. The NRM brought peace and progress,” Obua stated.

Adjumani District NRM Chairperson, Charles Akuku Anzo, presented key appeals to the presidential candidate, including: Construction of two bridges to replace ferries connecting Adjumani to Moyo and Obongi, Elevation of Adjumani Town Council to a municipality, Resolution of the Apa land conflict and Compensation for victims of the LRA insurgency

Anzo also highlighted major district achievements such as: Over 100 kilometers of tarmac roads, 70% piped water coverage and Disbursement of over UGX 17 billion in PDM funds to more than 54,800 households

“These achievements have transformed livelihoods and reduced poverty in Adjumani,” Anzo noted.
