NRM’s Muwonge wins Kayunga district chairperson by election, as NUP dispute the results

Muwonge garnered 31830 voters to win his closest competitor Harriet Nakwedde Kafeero of National Unity Platform NUP who got 31380 votes. Muwonge expressed joy after the declaration as the winner while Nakwedde and her supporters castigated the NRM machinery and Electoral Commission for colliding in rigging election and stealing their victory. Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, the NUP deputy spokesperson emphasized that they won the election with 35000 votes but instead the results have been changed by the EC and the NRM candidate announced the winner. The National Resistance Movement NRM’s Andrew Muwonge has been declared the winner of the Kayunga district LC5 by election by the Electoral commission district returning officer.

Muwonge expressed joy after the declaration as the winner while Nakwedde and her supporters castigated the NRM machinery and Electoral Commission for colliding in rigging election and stealing their victory.

A bitter speaking Mufumbiro asked government to scrap off elections and make it official that one can only take power through civil war and demonstration since elections are now useless.

The Mukono Municipality Legislator Betty Nambooze said that the rigged win is not a shock to her since Nakwedde was not contesting with Muwonge but rather the state which is known for rigging elections.
