NUP’s Candidate in Igara East Withdraws from the Race

IGARA– Counsel Tumukunde Joshua the National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Head Legal Team – Western Region, the party flag bearer for Igara East Constituency has expressed interest not to contest in the forthcoming general elections.

“I regret to inform you that I am unable to proceed with this candidature due to financial constraints. Nonetheless, I remain fully committed to serving the party and advancing its mission.” Reads part of the letter dated 16th October addressed to NUP President, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

He also promised that as the Subregional Coordinator for Greater Bushenyi which comprises Ntungamo, Buhweju, Sheema, Rubirizi, Mitooma, and Bushenyi, will continue mobilising support for the NUP at all levels.

“In addition, I reaffirm my dedication to defending human rights and providing free legal services to political prisoners across the country, as I have consistently done in the past.” added Tumukunde

The letter has been copied to: The secretary General, the vice president, National Unity Platform (Western Region).

Being that he is the second candidate, losing interest to contest as Member of Parliament on NUP card, it has raised questions among the members of the general public.
