In a statement issued on March 7, 2026, the commission announced that the nomination exercise for the club presidency ended on March 5, with five members initially picking nomination forms to contest for the top leadership position.

The members who picked nomination forms included Meywa Faroog, Omar Ahmed Hussein, Dennis Ssebuggwawo Mbidde, Simeon Kawuma Bulezi, and Joseph Muguluma Mbazzi, whose forms were picked through an agent.

However, by the submission deadline of March 7, only Omar Ahmed Hussein returned duly completed nomination forms and fulfilled all the required conditions set by the club’s electoral guidelines.

According to the Electoral Commission, Mr. Omar’s documents have since been forwarded for vetting and further processing in line with the club’s electoral roadmap.

The commission, chaired by Brian Kajubi, noted that further communication regarding the outcome of the vetting process and the next steps in the election process will be communicated to members, fans, and other stakeholders in due course.

Sports Club Villa is one of Uganda’s most historic football clubs, and the leadership process is being closely followed by its members and supporters.

The commission thanked club members and fans for their continued interest and participation in strengthening governance within the club.
