One person has been confirmed dead in a road accident at Nkumba traffic lights along the Kampala Entebbe highway.
A construction concrete truck belonging to SANY Cement Factory Company with registration number UAN 836D failed its driver and crashed into a Mitsubishi RVR No. 10 van with registration number UBQ 371P.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle failed its driver and decided to jump over the rubble that crosses the road, and failed to reverse, resulting in one of the vehicles that had stopped at the traffic lights.
Vehicle No.UBQ 371P was driven by lawyer Okiot Raphael, who worked for KMT, and was a law lecturer at Uganda Christian University. Okiot Rapheal is identified as the husband of Judge Kwagala Faith Irene, of the Kyenjojo First Grade Court.
Traffic Police spokesperson Micheal Kananura and Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said both vehicles were taken to Entebe Police Headquarters as investigations proceed.
